Barót (Baraolt) Region
Barót (Baraolt) Region, situated in the northwestern part of Kovászna (Covasna) County, is one of Szeklerland’s historical regions full of tourist attractions. Its area contains large forests; due to its varied geological construction it is rich in mineral and medicinal water. Its settlements are: Alsórákos (Racoș), Apáca (Apața), Bardóc (Brăduț), Barót (Baraolt), Bibarcfalva (Biborțeni), Bodos (Bodoș), Bölön (Belin), Erdőfüle (Filia), Felsőrákos (Racoșul de Sus), Kisbacon (Bățanii Mici) (Bățanii Mici), Köpec (Căpeni), Középajta (Aita Medie), Magyarhermány (Herculian), Miklósvár (Micloșoara), Nagyajta (Aita Mare), Nagybacon (Bățanii Mari), Olasztelek (Tălișoara), Szárazajta (Aita Seacă), Székelyszáldobos (Doboșeni), Uzonkafürdő (Ozunca-Băi), Ürmös (Ormeniș) ésVargyas (Vârghiș). The centre of the small region is the town of Barót (Baraolt).
The rare trees, plants and the richness of animal species raise the touristic value of the region. A wide variety of wild animals live in the region’s large forests. It is also rich in cultural and historical tourist attractions.
